Where we stop guessing
This is an estimate from your own count, not a binding quote. Three things we will not price blind: façades above roughly 8 metres, where we need a platform and a look at the access; glass covered in building dust, silicone or lime scale, which is restoration work and not cleaning; and a Wintergarten roof we have not measured. For those we come by, measure, and put the price in writing before anything starts. It is free and it takes twenty minutes.

Roof windows

Roof windows are slower: the pane pivots, the flashing collects grit and the inside frame holds condensation. Priced separately so nobody has to pretend it is a normal window.
Wintergarten roofs
from €13per m²
Glass roofs are measured, not counted. We clean the roof, the rafter channels and the upstands, and we tell you honestly if a pane is scratched rather than dirty.
Shopfronts
from €69per month
A shop window is only clean if it is clean on a Saturday morning. Fixed weekly or fortnightly round, same slot, same person, invoiced monthly.

The boring, important part
Insurance and working at height
Window cleaning above head height is regulated work in Germany, and it is where a cheap quote quietly becomes your problem. Here is exactly what we hold and, just as importantly, what we do not.
- Business liability insurance
- Glasklar carries a Betriebshaftpflichtversicherung covering damage to property and consequential financial loss while we are on your building. We send the current certificate of insurance, with the cover amounts, in writing before the first appointment — ask and it is in your inbox the same day. We do not print policy numbers on a website.
- Working at height
- Our staff are instructed annually in fall protection and the use of personal fall-arrest equipment, following the German DGUV rules for this trade. In practice we work from the ground with a water-fed pole up to roughly 8 metres, which is the safest thing for everyone. Above that we use a hired platform and plan the access with you first.
- What we do not do
- We do not do rope access. If your building needs abseiling technicians, we say so and hand you on to a firm certified for it rather than improvising. We also do not clean gutters, roofs, solar panels or interiors — those are other trades and they deserve someone who does them every day.
- Registered trade, paid properly
- Glasklar Fensterdienst e.K. is entered in the register of craft trades at the Handwerkskammer Mannheim Rhein-Neckar-Odenwald as a building-cleaning business. Staff are employed, not subcontracted by the hour, and paid to the collective minimum wage for the German building-cleaning trade. That is part of why a pane costs €4.20 and not €1.90.
Private households can usually claim the labour element of a household service against income tax under § 35a EStG. Our invoices always show labour separately so you can.

I counted 14 panes on the little drawing, got €58.80, and that is exactly what the invoice said. After twenty years of “we'll have to take a look first”, this was a relief.
They cleaned the shopfront every Friday at seven for eight months without me ever having to ring. When the Wintergarten roof turned out to be scratched, not dirty, they told me instead of charging me twice.
The roof windows in our attic had not been done properly since we moved in. Two hours, no mess, and they left the runners moving again. Not the cheapest quote we had. Easily the best.

The seven things people ask
Do you really only clean windows?
Yes. Glass, frames and sills. No carpets, no offices, no stairwells, no gutters, no solar panels. One trade done properly beats five done adequately, and it is the reason we can quote a pane at €4.20 without inspecting it first.
How high can you reach?
From the ground with a carbon water-fed pole we comfortably reach about 8 metres, which covers most Mannheim buildings up to the third floor. Above that we hire a platform and quote it after a site visit, because the access — not the glass — is what costs money.
Is the frame really included?
Yes, and the sill with it. A pane with a dirty frame around it does not look clean, so charging extra for it never made sense to us. It is in the €4.20.
Do I have to be at home?
For the outside, no — we work from the street or the courtyard and send you a message when we are done. For the inside we need twenty minutes of your morning, or a key arrangement if you would rather not be there.
Why is there no detergent?
We filter tap water until nothing is dissolved in it. Pure water lifts dirt and then dries without leaving anything behind, so there are no streaks and no soapy film for the next fortnight of dust to stick to. It also means nothing runs into the planting below.
What happens if it rains the next day?
Nothing. Rain is clean water; it does not undo a clean pane. What makes glass dirty again is dust, pollen and the film left by detergents — which is why we do not use any. We do not offer a rain guarantee because we would be selling you something the weather already gives you.
How do you charge, and when do I pay?
By invoice after the work, payable within 14 days, by bank transfer. No deposit, no cash. Private customers get labour shown separately on the invoice so it can be claimed under § 35a EStG.
